21st Century environment is moving at a pace that stretches the mind and staggers the imagination. Societal changes triggered by expanding dimensions of knowledge, technology and communication, co-opted with the need for preparing children for a wholesome and happy life have thrown up new challenges and therefore, opportunities in the purpose and design of school education.

Education should take into account the challenges of 21st century and prepare children for life; equip children for future which is unpredictable and uncertain. We must find ways in which technology can support the curricula, pedagogy and assessment of a collaborative learning environment.

Yes, we need our doctors, engineers and lawyers. But equally, if not more importantly, we need a society based on honesty, equity and justice. It is not enough to "Make in India" we must also "Make good people in India". It requires paradigm shift in the way we view school education. Rabindranath Tagore rightly said "Don't limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time." The best things we can give our student are ROOTS and WINGS. Roots will keep youngsters rooted in his languages, culture society. Wings will give them the capability to see the world and make contribution for the betterment of mankind.
